Covid-19 Health and Safety Risk
Assessment
Carrying out risk assessments during
the pandemic
As updated by the hse they have released a document outlining all the necessary precautions you must take in a workplace during the pandemic to reduce the risk of the virus transmitting. This blog will break it down in a simple easy to read form so you can digest the information and become aware of what is involved in a covid-19 risk assessment. I will explain what the aim of the risk assessment is, who is involved in the risk assessment, how you can keep your workplaces safe.
After that I
will explain how we here at Libben have made our workplace as safe as possible
and the extra precautions we have taken. All our venues are now open, even with
restrictions we aim to provide the best possible experience for delegates when
they arrive on our health and safety courses.
What
This is an HSE
risk assessment that ensures reasonable processes are in place to protect
workers from coronavirus. It helps you manage risk to ensure people are
protected. You should also consider in your risk assessment individuals more at
risk of being infected and also individuals who may be more adversely affected
by catching the virus.
Who
It’s the employer’s responsibility to protect the health and
safety and also the welfare of their employees and other people who might be
affected by their business.
How
Workplaces
should point out and identify where the transmission could occur in certain
situations. They should then think who is at risk of the virus. The likelihood
of someone being exposed to the virus. Control the risk then by removing the
activity or situation that could expose any individual to the virus.
- Staggering
shifts
- Providing
extra handwashing facilities
- Additional
hand sanitizing bottles
- Putting
in place social distancing measures
When
If your business has less than 5 employees, you do not have to document or write anything down but it may help if you do.
Remember if you are experiencing any symptoms of coronavirus:
Get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible. Stay at home and do not have visitors until you get your test result – only leave your home to have a test. Anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, must also stay at home until you get your result.

So we have
had to introduce social distancing into our classrooms meaning tables and
chairs have been spread out to ensure we are following the guidelines.
We have also provided more hand sanitising stations across the office and in the training rooms.
All
delegates and staff must have their temperature checked upon arrival and they are
given the option to scan our QR Code which links with the NHS track and trace
app.
